The basics
Do I need an account?
No. There’s nothing to sign up for. You add your document, enter the number and pay for that one fax.
How much does a fax cost?
Every page costs the same. The price depends on the destination country and starts at $1.49 a page. The cover page is free. See all prices.
Which countries can I send a fax to?
United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, and Spain. Other countries aren’t available yet.
Can I receive faxes?
No. FaxTonic only sends faxes.
Documents and cover page
Which files can I send?
PDF, JPEG, and PNG files. You can combine several files into one fax and choose their order. Once converted to fax pages, a fax can be up to 4 MB.
How many pages can one fax have?
Up to 20, the cover page included.
Is the cover page required?
No. It’s added by default and it’s free, but you can switch it off. In the United States, a fax sent from a computer must show the date and time it was sent, who sent it and a phone number, on the first page or on every page. The cover page is an easy way to do that.
Payment and refunds
How do I pay?
By card, on a payment form provided by Stripe. FaxTonic never sees your card number.
Which currency will I pay in?
In US dollars if you use FaxTonic in English, and in euros if you use it in German, French or Spanish.
What if my fax doesn’t go through?
The refund goes back to your card automatically: in full if we never dialled, or minus $0.30 + 2.9% if the call was made but the fax failed. See the refund policy.
Do I get a receipt?
Yes, if you enter your email address on the payment form: Stripe sends the receipt to it.
Privacy
What happens to my document?
It’s used only to send your fax. It’s deleted as soon as the fax is delivered, and after 24 hours at the latest if it isn’t.
Do you keep the fax number?
For 30 days after the fax is finished, so we can answer questions about it. Then it’s erased, and we keep only the country, the page count and the price.
Can I send medical records?
FaxTonic doesn’t sign Business Associate Agreements under the US HIPAA law, so don’t use it for protected health information covered by that law.
